The Catcher Was a Spy Trailer Starring Paul Rudd

catcherspy

Paul Rudd may be best known for comedies, but we recently saw him give a different kind of performance in Duncan Jones’ Mute and now he appears to be branching out again with the upcoming spy drama The Catcher Was a Spy. The movie is based on the true story of major league baseball player Moe Berg, who was recruited to work for the OSS during WWII. It remains to be seen if the story is all that compelling aside from the curious initial hook, but fortunately Rudd is surrounded by a stellar supporting cast that includes Mark Strong, Sienna Miller, Jeff Daniels, Tom Wilkinson, Guy Pearce, Paul Giamatti, Connie Nielsen and Shea Whigham. The Catcher Was a Spy hits select theatres and VOD on June 22nd; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

I’m so in. We seem to only get one WWII cinematic release a year these days and I’d rather see that over some superhero movie any day of the week. Maybe one day Peter Jackson and crew will get around to finishing Dam Busters but this will keep me going in the meantime.

Dunno. Everything is a teensy weensy bit off. Hopefully, it’s just the trailer edit.
