James McAvoy and Bill Hader in Talks for It: Chapter 2

Last year It became the highest grossing horror movie of all time, earning an incredible $700 million worldwide. As many people know, however, the movie only covered the first half of Stephen King’s novel and a sequel focusing on the main characters as adults has always been a part of the plan. Warner Brothers is eager to get this on the big screen as soon as possible and now this week they are reportedly in the process of nailing down a cast. It was previously reported that Jessica Chastain was in talks to play the grown-up Beverly and now there are two more big names on the verge of signing on. Hit the jump for more info.

According to THR, James McAvoy and Bill Hader are currently in negotiations to join the cast of It: Chapter 2. McAvoy would play the role of Bill Denbrough, the leader of the group, played by Jaeden Lieberher in the first movie. Hader would be the adult Richie Tozier, previously portrayed by a wise-cracking Finn Wolfhard. The young actors are also expected to return for the sequel via flashbacks and Bill Skarsgard will be back as Pennywise.

Obviously with the success of the first film, there is really no limit on the talent they can recruit for the follow up. Hader is an interesting choice in that he is still mostly known for comedic performances, although his HBO series Barry may be changing that. Andy Muschietti and Gary Dauberman are on board to return as director and screenwriter, respectively. It: Chapter 2 is scheduled to begin production in July and currently has a release date of Sept. 6th, 2019. What do you think of the casting for It: Chapter 2 thus far?
