    I noticed that.

  • Gerry

No follow up viewings of The Meaning Of Life after last weeks show Sean? You should at least watch the second to last segment about a large man in a restaurant. That’s something else.
And Frank admitting that, in his regal position as the king of comedy, he’d never seen Monty Python And The Holy Grail (It made me laugh too Reed) and ‘would get round to it in his own time’ was like the queen being told ‘We’ve just conferred knighthoods on a load of people, it’s time for you to get the sword out and do the business’ only for her to say ‘One cannot be arsed, one will get round to it in one’s own sweet time.’
It’s like Jay, the duke of spook, admitting that he’s never seen Onibaba.
    Oh, wait …..

  • Tim

Yeah, about a minute of that video tells me why I didn’t read this guy’s book and why I’m not going to see this movie.

  • Sean

I’ve been going through it segment by segment. Might finish it this weekend. Coincidentally I think there is a bunch of other Monty Python stuff being added on Netflix this week.

  • Flo Lieb

Somehow I feel like Frank wouldn’t be able to appreciate Monty Python, thinking most of it is unfunny. So maybe not poking the bear is the smarter decision here (e.g. pretty sure Frank would HATE the Swedish subtitles and llama gag in Holy Grail’s opening credits).

  • Flo Lieb

Regarding the premiums and open franchises Rambo should be covered in the not too distant future too, no?

  • Oso Jugo

Monty Python isn’t funny so Frank would be right.

  • Oso Jugo

    Which one is Spielberg?

  • Mark Stevens

Just someone whose taste in film is seriously suspect.

  • Mark Stevens

I see Frank is still spending the show farting through his teeth.

  • gibson8

Was that because of their lack of understanding and knowledge about oppression or yours?

  • Maverick883

I thought the film was very average. Nothing like the book that I absolutely love. Glad Jay is back and the podcast is back to normal. Excellent episode guys!

  • Mrespony

Really, I love when FJ gets into a topic with some depth and maybe a bit of controversy. The next premium should be for a selection of 80’s films that would now be considered extremely problematic, e.g. Revenge of the Nerds, Weird Science, Stroker Ace etc…

  • Sean

    Problematic Premium?

  • Samb

Hell yeah, for that title alone.

  • Oso Jugo

Please do a Kurosawa premium. Please. Please, please do an Akira Kurosawa premium. Rashomon, Seven Samurai, The Hidden Fortress, High and Low, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, and Ran would get it done well. Do it. Please. I’m begging now. I can’t listen to a Wes Anderson premium. I hate that precious douchebag so much that I can’t even listen to others talk about him.

  • Mrespony

Perfect title! This episode literally makes itself, now you gotta do it. Here’s some films to give your noodle a nudge: Cannonball Run (racism/sexism/DWI), Revenge of the Nerds (seriously, the protagonists were serial sex offensers through the last half of the movie), Soul Man (I mean, come on), The Toy (racism), The Last Dragon (cultural appropriation?). With Molly Ringwald’s recent column this would be very topical and I think Jay and Frank would have a field day exploring the COPO around these films nowadays.

  • Oso Jugo

Not sure if you guys know about this or not but Spielberg’s first TV Movie is 1972’s Something Evil. The whole thing is on youtube and its bad.

  • Sean

I could be wrong but I think that came after Duel.

  • Oso Jugo

You’re right. Just checked. It’s so little known that I had just assumed it was the first thing he did.
