Future World Trailer Starring James Franco and Milla Jovovich

Leave it to James Franco to come up with the weirdest, most unexpected follow up to his Oscar-nominated film The Disaster Artist. His next movie behind the camera (and in front of it) is a low rent Mad Max rip-off called Future World. The movie stars Suki Waterhouse as a “robot sex companion-assassin” in search of her soul who crosses paths with a prince (Jeffrey Wahlberg) who is in search of medicine to save his ailing mother (Lucy Liu). Milla Jovovich, Snoop Dogg and Method Man also co-star. There has been no shortage of post-apocalyptic clones over the years, but this still looks like must-see VOD trash. Future World is co-directed by cinematographer Bruce Thierry Cheung and it hits select theaters and VOD on May 25th. Check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Can anyone name a compelling James Franco project with the exception of Freaks and Geeks? Spring Breakers almost made it, but his self-consciousness pretty much breaks that movie and everything else I’ve seen him in, except cameos and when he’s playing a vain a-hole.

Is George Miller going to sue?

    What about Franco’s Zeroville adaptation?
