Ridley Scott in Talks for Spy Adaptation Queen & Country

Although Ridley Scott had been gearing up to direct at least a few more Alien movies, the lacklustre performance of Alien: Covenant at the box office may have put those plans on ice… at least for the immediate future. In the meantime, Scott has plenty of other projects in development and now this week he is adding another one to the list. We are hearing that he is coming on board the spy thriller Queen & Country, which had previously been stuck in development hell. Hit the jump to find out what we know.

According to The Wrap, Ridley Scott is in talks to direct Queen and Country for Fox, based on the Eisner award-winning graphic novel by Greg Rucka. The comic was loosely inspired by the British TV series The Sandbaggers and it revolves around a spy named Tara Chace, a member of the Special Operations Section of the British Secret Intelligence Service. Ellen Page was once attached to star in this movie but she is no longer involved.

What remains unclear is just where this might fit into Scott’s schedule. Last month it was being reported that he was in talks to direct the first installment in The Merlin Saga for Disney, but he also has a WWII movie Battle of Britain lined up as well. A couple of years ago, he was announced as a director of a movie based on ’60s spy series The Prisoner but we haven’t heard anything about it since. Technically he has directed a spy movie once before with Body of Lies, but it could be fun to see him embrace more classic elements of the spy genre. Are you looking forward to Queen and Country?
