Monday Morning Box Office Report: Black Panther Hits $500 Million Domestically

It was another big week for Marvel’s Black Panther as the movie has now become one of only ten movies to hit $500 million domestically and the third fastest ever to do so. It earned $65 million in its third weekend and now sits at $897 million worldwide as it prepares to open in China next weekend. In second place, the Jennifer Lawrence spy movie Red Sparrow debuted with $17 million which is just a little less than Atomic Blonde made last summer, while Death Wish opened in third with $13 million. Both movies fell squarely within expectations but failed to exceed them. Game Night dropped to fourth while Peter Rabbit rounded out the top 5. Elsewhere, Annihilation plummeted a massive 49% all the way to sixth place while Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was somehow still in seventh place in its 11th week of release. The Rock may have won a Razzie for Baywatch but clearly he’s doing just fine.
