Mary Poppins Returns Teaser Trailer

Along with their shameless plug for A Wrinkle in Time at the Oscars last night, Disney also aired the very first teaser trailer for the upcoming Mary Poppins sequel, Mary Poppins Returns. The movie stars Emily Blunt in the title role made famous by Julie Andrews and so far people seem surprisingly receptive to the idea of following up such a classic film over 50 years later. The movie takes place in London during the Great Depression with Ben Whishaw playing Michael, one of the children from the original who is now an adult widower with three kids of his own. Hamilton‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda plays Lamplighter Jack while Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Emily Mortimer, Angela Lansbury and Dick Van Dyke also co-star. Mary Poppins Returns is directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago) and hits theatres on Dec. 25th; check out the teaser after the jump and see what you think.

I now officially hate Disney. Everything is sooooo obvious, CGId, and cold. Where is the emotion? Where is the wonder? Where is the fun?

Can’t wait to see this. Emily Blunt looks perfect for the role.
