  • Lori Cerny

Whoa, what a glorious surprise! Thanks.

  • Lori Cerny

    Frank,
Did someone force you to watch the Death Wish trailer? Only cause you said you don’t watch trailers. :)

  • Samb

Guess Frank won’t be retiring on those Oscar gambling winnings lol

  • tyler mikol

Thanks for the show fellas! Are you guys not interested in reviewing Game Night? I’m not a comedy head at all but I checked it out this afternoon and it’s surprisingly good and even funny. Would love a discussion on it and analysis from the KOC.

  • Samb

I know it’ll never happen, but I’d perversely enjoy a Death Wish premium. The sequels to the original are hilariously bad. The last one tries and completely fails to edit around Bronson’s advanced decrepitude — dude couldn’t stalk a brunch buffet by then.

  • devolutionary

On a serious note, I’d prefer a Dirty Harry Premium. I think there’s a much better balance of content and social commentary across all 5.

  • Frankie Knuckles

I watched them after the movie. For some reason it was very difficult to get a clip for the movie that worked as just audio, so I was scanning the trailers.

  • KylG

    Sergio Leone premi?

  • schizopolis

When Frank said he could kill someone, Jay missed the opportunity to ask him if he could go into a school unarmed to stop a mass shooter…like Trump obviously would.

  • pcch7

Double filmjunk joy for me at work tonight, shift went by fast

  • Nobody

Did you guys ever see Death Sentence, from master of horror James Wan? It’s corny, but everything I’ve heard about this new Death Wish makes it sound much less interesting than Death Sentence on all fronts, from action sequences to performances and visuals. Shaved-head Kevin Bacon rocks.

  • Indianamcclain

I like Death Sentence quite a bit.

  • Indianamcclain

I wish I could listen to the show at work. It would make my 10 hour shift go by much quicker.

  • Film Gob

Frank is Jay-lous and the guy without a 4K TV is too.

  • Craig

This, Game Night is one of the very few American Comedies that I enjoyed.

  • Colin

Good to see Frank back to his terrible predictions… right out the gate saying that Shape of Water is definitely not winning Best Picture

  • Falsk

When Sean reads every one of your drunk prompts. ????

  • Matt the Kiwi

I’d be happy with either but they mentioned that they were all keen for a Spike Lee premium on the Wes Anderson one. Sounded like they were pumped for a Summer of Sam rewatch. I’d be interested to hear a politically charged conversation on Do The Right Thing too (add in Clockers and He Got Game and it’s a pretty good mix I reckon).

  • pcch7

Just rewatched Showgirls. By god we need a Verhoeven premium

  • kent88

Are you guys so scared of the COPO you won’t be reviewing A WRINKLE IN TIME next week? Lame.

  • devolutionary

Considering Spike Lee optioned the film as a Netflix series last year, I’d include the often forgotten (myself included) “She’s Gotta Have It”. An urban female relationship drama from the reverse pt of view. Had no desire to watch the show until I revisited this.

  • JC

Ha that was hilarious. But honestly I did think t would either. Well pleased for GDT

  • Beat_C

you guys didn’t mention this year’s THR roundtables. I’d like to hear what you have to say about them on the podcast. especially the one with the cinematographers, featuring your boys deakins, van hoytema and – especially for frank – kaminski.

  • Beat_C

yeah, hearing that already knowing the outcome was very funny ????

  • Matt the Kiwi

Good point – I think they should have at least one drama in there (for drama’s sake).

  • likyzan

tarnation is now present, with various sounds: BMOVIESHQ.BLOGSPOT.COM

  • pcch7

Frank could kill a guy if it came down to it, I doubt he fears the COPO that much ;p

  • Nobody

At least it’s getting a little more attention now. I remember avoiding it in theatres due to how poorly it was received initially.

  • Kay Dizzle

great email about Frank being Jaylous I lold

  • jerrysballs69696969

    JOHN WATERS PREMIUM with reed

  • bobsponge42

A thought I just had based on how many remakes/reboots/restarts/re:re:re:re there are in movies these days… What other art form (or even media) has this pattern? Books? TV Shows? Paintings? Video Games? Sculptures? Architecture? Etc.

We have an expectation that movies will be made again and again. Is this unique to movies? I’m thinking it is, at least the proliferation of the practice in movies.

  • Sean

Everything’s a remix! It happens a fair amount with video games and TV. Books maybe not as much? I don’t think people retell the same literal story over again quite as much in book form because the story is all you have. A new author might have different prose or some new plot twists, but is that really enough to justify releasing a new version of the same book? Maybe books don’t date as much. But quite often but you do get new authors taking over a franchise and creating new sequels.
