Bad Boys for Life Gets New Directors

About a year ago it seemed like the long-rumoured Bad Boys 3 (aka Bad Boys for Life) was closer to happening than it had ever been… right up until director Joe Carnahan dropped out and the release date was pushed back yet again. Martin Lawrence said last August that he didn’t think it was going to happen after all and then Sony Pictures and producer Jerry Bruckheimer went and set up a TV spin-off instead. But now this week we’ve got some good news: the movie seems to be back on again and Sony has apparently found a new director. Two of them actually. Hit the jump to find out what we know.

According to Deadline, Belgian directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are currently in negotiations to direct Sony’s Bad Boys for Life. The duo were previously attached to helm Beverly Hills Cop 4, another Jerry Bruckheimer joint, which might mean they did a great job developing that project but it probably also means that project is now stuck in development hell. Either way, their other credits include the Belgian crime dramas Image, Black and Gangsta.

The latest draft of the Bad Boys for Life script was written by Chris Bremner (The Secret Life of Houdini). Meanwhile, the Bad Boys TV show is still in development with Gabrielle Union reprising her role as Syd Burnett from Bad Boys II and Ernie Hudson recently signing on to play her father. It is unclear if there will be any crossover between the two projects. Are you still looking forward to Bad Boys for Life?

At this point, why not just give it back to Michael Bay?
