The Cured Trailer: Ellen Page Deals with the Aftermath of a Zombie Plague

Much like zombies themselves, the zombie movie subgenre remains virtually impossible to kill. Every time we think zombies have become completely played out, someone invents yet another unique twist on this well-worn horror trope. This time around, it is Irish writer-director David Freyne who has introduced a new wrinkle to the equation: what if someone actually came up with a cure for the virus? You might think that is where the horror would end, but his movie seems to present a plausible scenario where everyone is on edge as the infected try to reintegrate into society. Not only is there plenty of guilt and anger, but there is also the fear that they could revert. The Cured stars Ellen Page, Sam Keeley (Monsters: Dark Continent, Burnt) and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (The Infiltrator, Love/Hate) and it hits select theatres and VOD on Feb. 23rd. Check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Haven’t heard about the Last of Us movie for a while, but I can’t see any other actress playing Ellie than Page. Make it happen!

Actually Sean this scenario has been done before. The series was a BBC one and it was called “In The Flesh”. The premise was basically the same, where a cure was found for the living dead, their eventual reintegration into society and the eventual prejudices and fears encountered with their return. It was great series that was unfortunately canceled after two seasons. You should check it out!
