Mission: Impossible 6 Gets a Title, First Photo Released

Intel on the next Mission: Impossible movie has been pretty hard to come by up until now with very little being revealed to the public aside from the fact that Tom Cruise injured himself performing a stunt last summer. The movie still appears to be on track for a July release, however, and now this week Tom Cruise has taken to social media to reveal the first official info. The movie will be called Mission: Impossible – Fallout, which could refer to some sort of nuclear threat or perhaps simply the aftermath of Ethan Hunt’s decision to “go rogue” last movie. (The plot synopsis claims that Ethan Hunt and his team are in “a race against time after a mission gone wrong.”) He also released the first official still from the movie, which hints at what may be the film’s marquee stunt. Mission: Impossible – Fallout hits theatres on July 23rd and co-stars Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Michelle Monaghan, Alec Baldwin, Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett and Vanessa Kirby. Nice title, and excited for another MI film, it’s a great series.
However, this is the first time the MI series is re-using a director. Up until now it was always different filmmakers, which gave every movie a different feel, and was part of the charm of the series (like with the original Alien movies). So this is a break from the norm, but I guess it won’t make much difference…

Shame that Paula Patton ain’t coming back.
