Monday Morning Box Office Report: Jumanji Keeps Rolling, 12 Strong and Den of Thieves Surprise

Another weekend, another victory for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which has now topped the box office three weeks in a row and continues to be the movie to beat some five weeks after its release. The movie has earned $767 million worldwide and has just passed Thor: Ragnarok to become the seventh highest grossing movie of 2017 domestically. In second place, 12 Strong exceeded expectations, earning $16.5 million followed closely by the heist thriller Den of Thieves with $15.3 million. The latter is another surprise hit for Gerard Butler, although the drawing power of both 50 Cent and O’Shea Jackson Jr. should not be discounted. The Post and The Greatest Showman rounded out the top 5. Elsewhere, Forever My Girl opened with $4.7 million from 1,115 locations, which was good enough for tenth place.
