Summer of ’84 Trailer: An ’80s-Centric Horror Movie from the Directors of Turbo Kid

The success of Stranger Things has pretty much guaranteed that we are going to continue to see ’80s nostalgia served up on screen over the next few years. That being said, some people were doing ’80s-inspired work even before Stranger Things debuted… people like French-Canadian filmmakers Anouk Whissell, Francois Simard and Yoann-Karl Whissel (aka RKSS), who made a fun little film in 2015 called Turbo Kid. Now they are back with their latest film, Summer of ’84, which seems to be a combination of an Amblin adventure film and a slasher film with a little bit of Fright Night thrown in as well. The plot revolves around a group of 15-year-old kids who suspect that their police officer neighbor is actually a serial killer. Summer of ’84 will premiere at Sundance this month but it doesn’t have a release date yet; check out the first trailer after the jump and see what you think.

I hope whoever scored Turbo Kid returns for this. I listen to the turbo kid soundtrack all the time at work.
