Trust Trailer: Danny Boyle’s FX Series Goes Deeper on the Getty Kidnapping

It’s not very often that we get to see two prominent directors take on the same material at almost the exact same time, but that seems to be the case with the upcoming FX series Trust. Directed by Danny Boyle, the show revolves around the 1973 kidnapping of John Paul Getty III — which was also the subject of Ridley Scott’s recent movie All the Money in the World. Trust seems to have a slightly different spin on the material, however, exploring the possibility that Getty staged his own kidnapping and also spending a lot more time with Getty Sr. as well. The show stars Donald Sutherland, Hilary Swank, Harris Dickinson, Brendan Fraser and Michael Esper and is expected to span multiple seasons, probably further exploring Getty’s rise to fame and fortune. Trust premieres on FX on March 25th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

The Scott film touches briefly on the possibility of the staged kidnapping and some of the father/son time, but there isn’t much of it. I’m curious if maybe more of that stuff was shot but didn’t make the final cut. I’ll check out the series, at least the first episode. Nice to see Brendan Fraser getting some kind of comeback.
