Sicario 2: Soldado Trailer Starring Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin

Benicio Del Toro stars in SICARIO 2: SOLDADO.

Although the thought of a Sicario sequel without Denis Villeneuve or Emily Blunt might seem like obvious direct-to-VOD material, this week Sony has released the first trailer for Sicario 2: Soldado and it looks potentially bigger and more action-packed than the original. That doesn’t necessarily mean it will be a better film, but it is indeed getting a full theatrical release right in the middle of the summer. Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro are back and they’re being forced to “get dirty” as they continue to take the fight to the Mexican drug cartels. The movie is once again written by Taylor Sheridan, but it is directed by Italian filmmaker Stefano Sollima (Suburra) and it features some new faces including Catherine Keener, Matthew Modine and Isabela Moner. Sicario 2: Soldado hits theatres on June 29th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Well it certainly has a direct to video title. Seriously, why can’t they just call this thing ‘Soldado’.

It’s still just Soldado on IMDB and Wikipedia. IMDB says: Also Known As (AKA)
Sicario 2: Soldado; USA (working title) Sicario 2
I predict that when you watch the film it will only say Soldado. Sicario 2 is just a marketing title.

Agreed. Even Sicario 2 (preferably Sicario II) would be ok, but the combination of both is gross… and the fact that it translates to “Hitman 2: Soldier” is absurd.
