You Were Never Really Here Trailer Starring Joaquin Phoenix

Six years after directing the challenging and chilling We Need to Talk About Kevin, director Lynne Ramsay is back with another equally uncomfortable cinematic excursion. You Were Never Really Here is based on a novel by Jonathan Ames (Bored to Death) and it stars Joaquin Phoenix as a traumatized veteran who becomes a vigilante for hire, tracking down missing girls and doling out punishment as he sees fit. The movie looks to mix extreme violence with an art house approach and it drew comparisons to Taxi Driver at Cannes earlier this year where it won Best Screenplay and Best Actor. Amazon will release You Were Never Really Here in select theatres on April 6th; check out the first U.S. trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

Oh boy disturbing but this looks thinks the ending will be both surprising and eerily disturbing…and last a long time after the movie ends…just a feeling…but i’m still seeing it.

Completely sold, especially with the team up of Joaquin and Ramsey. Only disappointment is I thought this was coming out sooner.
