Monday Morning Box Office Report: Coco Capitalizes on Lack of Competition

This weekend’s box office results were essentially a direct repeat of last weekend with Pixar’s Coco staying on top thanks to the complete and utter lack of new movies in wide release. The animated film added another $26 million, bringing its worldwide total to $279 million, and its performance continues to comparable to Moana last year. Justice League remained in second with $16.6 million followed by Wonder with $12.5 million. Thor: Ragnarok and Daddy’s Home 2 once again rounded out the top 5. Elsewhere, some smaller films got a chance to shine as Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird jumped into the top 10 at #7 with $4.5 million while Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri also climbed up a few spots as well. James Franco’s The Disaster Artist opened just outside the top 10, earning $1.2 million from 19 screens and setting the stage for a potential breakout next weekend when it expands.
