Steven Spielberg’s The Post Trailer Starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep

We’ve got a last minute addition to this year’s Oscar race and it happens to be Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film The Post, which was shot just a few months ago (Ready Player One was shot in 2016 but won’t hit theatres until March). I can see why it is being rushed to theatres, however, given that the subject matter is extremely topical and more relevant now than ever. Much like Spotlight, this is another story about the power of journalism and it revolves around the publishing of the Pentagon Papers in 1971, which revealed the truth about the Vietnam War to the American public. Meryl Streep plays The Washington Post publisher Kay Graham while Tom Hanks plays editor Ben Bradlee. The Post also stars Sarah Paulson, Bob Odenkirk, Tracy Letts, Bradley Whitford, Bruce Greenwood, Matthew Rhys, Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, Jesse Plemons, Michael Stuhlbarg and Zach Woods and it hits select theatres on Dec. 22nd. Check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

I will admit his techniques have been surpassed, but I’m an old-ish guy looking forward to a Spielberg we-know-good-guys-won historical rehash to build upon yesterday’s election results!

‘The Pentagon Papers’ with James Spader would be a good prewatch..not too bad.
