Damn you, Guys! Not even twenty minutes in to the ‘cast and I am fucking crying from laughing so hard!!!

  • anonymous

OH MY GOSH! this is the best podcast on earth! Geeeeez!

  • Blake in Boston

The prostate check recording has me in tears. I’m at work. I’m getting looks.

  • Newtman98

Just explain to them what you’re listening to so they don’t think you’re some kind of weirdo

  • devolutionary

Jay, was your prostate odyssey incorporated into Uncle Terry’s “The Shining”?

  • iammattz

Seeing “Jay’s prostate” in the podcast description is the weirdest early Christmas gift I’ve ever been given – thank you FJ

  • Lori Cerny

    1:46:00 Brief audio distortion.

  • Jameson

Dax, you watched the Psycho remake without seeing the original? For shame!

  • Jr

Injaculation. No shit. Some people actually proclaim the benefits of it. Jay, this is definitely worth digging deeper into before you give up on it. It does go back into the bladder though so it could be bad for some people but not for others.

  • Beat_C

great show guys, albeit slightly disgusting. one thing about “thor”: i’m surprised nobody pointed out the atrocious green screen work ???? especially in the scenes on the cliff. they couldn’t afford to fly to norway or somewhere similar??

  • Indianamcclain

In general the CG was cartoony.

  • devolutionary

Frank’s favourite Buffalo Bills player is Richie Incognito? You’re joking, right? I’m still amazed that guy is allowed on a football field.

  • Rob

Hahahah, what a great episode in so many ways.

Uh yeah, spoilers jammed in with the normal review would be my preference. I feel like any amount of discussion is going to be more spoilers than I would want for any movie I plan on seeing anyway – and if I don’t care that much about the movie, then I’d just prefer the spoiler discussion right there anyway so I don’t have to jump around to “keep the flow” of the episode going.

  • Samb

Listening to this episode reminded me of the reaction of one character watching Adam Sandler’s daughter’s pornographic student film in “The Meyerowitz Stories”……..”Wow, that was a hard ‘R’…”

  • Sean

I think we kind of screwed ourselves back when we moved the reviews to the beginning of the show instead of the end. Otherwise we could have just done spoilers right after the review and people could drop out whenever.

I’m almost willing to just go full spoilers all the time at this point. These days it feels like so few people listen unless they’ve seen the movie anyway.

  • Film Gob

Dax and Greg come across as if they get all their news/opinions from Collider and John Campea.

  • Film Gob

Dax and Greg come across as if they get all their news/opinions from Collider and John Campea….

  • Kenneth Serenyi

Lucasfilm’s unpopular Howard the Duck has already appeared in both Guardians of the Galaxy movies so there may be hope for Jar Jar Binks. (BTW, J.J. Abrams already took Jar Jar for his J.J.). Granted Howard the Duck was a Marvel property before the movie but they’re all Disney now.

  • Jr

I’d put this up as one of the best episodes ever.

  • schizopolis

Playing devil’s advocate, it seems like Justice League is in a no-win situation. The fans that dig the previous films aren’t happy with the major tonal change based on the trailers. The mainstream fans that hated or disliked the DCEU films (excl. WW) already have no goodwill, especially with all the post-production rumors. If JL turns out to be a good “Marvel-type” movie, but with better visuals, I just can’t see anyone loving it, even though Film Junk rates Guardians and now Ragnarok a 4 or higher.

It’s all about the bubble. The Marvel bubble makes general fans like their films way more than they should and the DCEU bubble does the exact opposite.

  • B.J.

“WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!??” – Dax´s fully reasonable reaction.
    Fellow male Junkers:
Am I ,and apparently the perplexed Dax, the only guys that have never in their life heard about Jay´s insane Pinching-off-your-loads-Fapping-Method???
Who would think of smth like this?? (and without even considering the enormous health risks)
If this is some new trend, I´m out!

  • schizopolis

Just a reminder, Richie Incognito bullied teammates for years and acts like a gorilla screaming the n-word. He was suspended for a year and thanks to Trump endorser – Rex Ryan got his job back.

    Frank’s hero:

  • Frankie Knuckles

Honestly, I had not seen that video before. Fave player tag embarrassingly rescinded. It was more based on his recent comments that Thursday Night games were Bullshit, which I agree with. Definitely a clown in that video. yuck

  • Larry Morgan

    I don’t think I have ever felt the type of shock I felt when I heard Jay’s pressure/pinch thing. I am…stunned.

    Is that a HIPAA violation?

  • schizopolis

Clown? If that was a black guy going crazy like that in a bar, he would’ve been put down..either tazed or shot by the cops. Watching interviews of Incognito now, he’s done a complete 180 on the surface, it’s scary. Too many affectations. I don’t buy it. Totally disingenuous.

  • Frankie Knuckles

That video is difficult to watch, its revolting. And I agree, based on that video, I can only tend to think that current behavior for the camera is a complete facade.

  • schizopolis

Yep and Colin Kaepernick still can’t get a shitty backup QB job. Incognito…starter.

  • devolutionary

Was thinking the exact same thing. If we only judge a player on his football merits, then Colin was by far one of the best system players on the 49ers last year. Solid TD-to-Int ratio on an awful team (16 TD, 4 INT), 468 rushing yards, 2200+ passing, efficient but had no help.

  • Kevin Cardoza

I know some people are really sensitive to spoilers, which I get, but I agree with Rob. It feels weird to listen to you guys (or most other movie podcasts actually) try and talk about your feelings on a movie when you are also forced to talk around all the plot points and major events. It sometimes leads to a lot of very vague, forced statements that don’t even make sense unless you have seen the movie and know what everyone is referring to, negating the whole point of spoilers to begin with.

  • Larry Morgan

Also, Leo is basically Tom Cruise but just picks better movies. Always reads so “performance heavy”. Also, yelling.

  • Craig

Please don’t, for the people who aren’t in North America we can sometimes get films weeks/months after you’ve reviewed them. Personally the spoiler free reviews are great for giving an idea of what you all thought.

  • Rob

Would you guys ever consider releasing a ‘spoiler’ and ‘non-spoiler’ cut of the podcast? For any episode that you do a spoiler discussion, have two versions posted on the same page; one with spoilers (in the right spot) and one entirely without?

I can’t imagine it would be much more work than goes into the podcast now, except for the second upload (and timestamp listing).

  • Tommy

It costs too much for Sean to host the podcast as it is (or was the last time he mentioned it.) Old episodes are removed because of that. Doubling up wouldn’t help.

  • ah

    Great show as usual.

As a huge fan of BvS, which only gets better with every rewatch, I’m slightly deflated by the negativity towards Justice League at the end of the show.

Dax, Greg, and to some extent Sean, really seem to nitpick the DCEU films and do the opposite for the Marvel films. I don’t believe that any of you guys have a conscious bias against the DCEU films, that would be ridiculous, just pointing out a difference in how harshly you tend to review the respective films, which was kind of highlighted in this show when Frank nitpicked Thor, and Dax and Greg were agitated by it.

Personally, this year I enjoyed Guardians 2, Spider-Man and Thor more than Wonder Woman so I’m not a blind DCEU fan, and I’m also concerned about how Justice League is going to turn out, but unlike many people it seems, I have faith in what remains of Zack Snyder’s vision, and I really hope you guys give Justice League a fair chance.

  • frankw35

Dax is going to spend eternity in movie hell for seeing the Gus Van Zandt “Psycho” not only before seeing the Hitchcock original, but apparently “instead of” forever. And the rest of you are joining him for not calling him on it. And this was just a few minutes after Frankie went on a tear about

‘Married with Children” in syndication/dvd having to replace the original Sinatra “Love and Marriage” with some half-assed knockoff.

  • Balls

I don’t what either of those two things are.

  • Balls

Nitpicks only come out when I’m not enjoying myself at a movie. If I get bored, I start to find fault with a lot of things. I grew up reading these characters in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. I want the Flash to be awesome. I want to see Hawkman, the Atom and Green Arrow in the Justice League. I’ve been waiting 35 years for a Justice League movie. Believe me, I want it to be good. I really wanted to like Man of Steel and BVS: DOJ. I want these movies to be colourful and fun with humour. I never was excited about reading the darker characters like Wolverine, Venom, or the Punisher. I read Frank Miller’s run on Daredevil and Batman and it did nothing for me. It’s just not what i want out of super-heroes. I’ll take the 60’s Batman TV show over Logan any day. I’m aware that most listeners do not enjoy how I review or talk about films and I totally understand. The FJ boys are geniuses when it comes to critiquing movies, but I can’t do that. I just hope I can get you to chuckle a few times during the show. Thanks for listening and I hope me being on the JL pod doesn’t keep you or anyone else from listening!

  • Balls

I didn’t want to be that guy and say ‘You’ve never seen ?’ Like you, I found it extremely odd that someone would watch Gus first before Al.

  • Mister Quigley Jr.

If those are WWE stars, then I agree.

  • Lisa Naarseth Myklebust

Psycho is overrated as fuck. Just like Halloween and many other horror flicks. I can mention almost 10 other films, some of them masterpieces, that were better: Rear Window, Strangers on a Train, Rope, Dial M For Murder, North by Northwest, Vertigo, Shadow of a Doubt and Lady Vanishes.

Not to say the remake is any better, which it clearly isn’t.

  • Lisa Naarseth Myklebust

    >”found it extremely odd that someone would watch Gus first before Al.”

You found it extremely odd that someone would watch a newer version than an older one? Logic much?

  • Jameson

The original is a classic (whether or not you agree) and the remake is a half-assed outline of the original with a terrible reputation. And if you’re going the newer vs older argument does that mean it makes sense to have seen the 2016 Ghostbusters before watching the original?

  • Lisa Naarseth Myklebust

Yes it does make sense. Most people watch newer versions more often than older ones for obvious reasons. How many have seen all those older Sherlock Holmes movies as opposed to the newer Robert Downey Jr. one? How many people have seen older James Bond films as opposed to the newer ones first?

  • Jameson

For starters, the Psycho remake isn’t exactly “new.” It came out in the ’90s. And the horror genre in particular is notorious for having shitty remakes of classics. But they often come and go like nothing. The Poltergeist remake has already been forgotten. And these remakes don’t make bank at the box office so I don’t buy that everyone’s watching those and ignoring the originals which are still revered.

  • pcch7

Has Alicia seen Stranger Things? Would be nice with an episode on that. Also, any chance you guys do another Bond premium?

  • kamenhaven

Yeah I definitely noticed the terrible green screen work in the movie. The scenes on the cliff with Hela (which in the trailer was supposed to be on an alleyway in the streets) was horrendous, but in particular I found this the most egregious with the Hulk gladiator fight in the ring. It all looks very fake and superimposed.

I thought Jay or Frankie would have at least picked this up as they’ve both mentioned how much they hate the tele-visual look of the Marvel films, especially Frankie.

  • kamenhaven

I was kinda surprised by Frank’s negative response to Justice League. I seem to remember him being a huge champion of at least the look of these films (BVS & Suicide). Especially since he ended being really unimpressed with Thor: Ragnarok, which continues the streak of Marvel films looking very “DIGITELL” and tele-visual.

I’m not sure how good Justice League would be, but the DC films have always been in my opinion very cinematic and filmic. And almost everyone of them always contain a memorable or awesome set piece (BVS – Batman fight in the warehouse, WW – No Man’s Land set piece) where else the Marvel movies tend to have none (Civil War airport set piece was the most recent I can think of). I’m holding out hopes for JL, I think it’s at least going to be very epic, and I’m looking forward to it.

  • kamenhaven

Am I the only one who is on Frank’s side about Thor: Ragnarok? I agreed with most of his points and was quite unimpressed. The comedy was funny at the start but quickly wore thin. It’s literally the same joke over and over again! Someone says something important or grandiose then gets hit by something or falls flat on his or her face. How is this funny? Also the Thor getting pep talk from daddy Odin on the verge of death and rediscovering his power scene was bad, I agree. What is this, Dragon Ball Z? The Odin pep talk reminded me of that moment in Dark Knight Rises when Bruce Wayne got advice from a dead Ra’s Al Ghul in a hallucination. Brutal.

I thought Jay would have hated this but I really didn’t like the whole Cate Blanchett swiping her hands over her hair to become a helmet with thorns thingamajig. It’s the same Iron-Man-flips-his-mask-open-so-we-can-see-RDJ’s-face bullshit.

Also really didn’t like Hulk being a goofball now. What the heck is the Hulk doing walking around in bathrobes and playing ball in a penthouse? What is this hi-fiving Valkyrie bullshit? What happened to the Hulk being this dangerous, threatening ticking time-bomb that could explode at any moment? Also I thought they established in Avengers that Bruce Banner could turn into the Hulk at any moment and was able to control the beast. Since when did the (false) threat of him being Hulk forever happened? Why is Marvel constantly inventing false conflicts for characters even though we know they have overcome them in the past?

  • reed double b’s

    i pee too much!!!!!

  • Beat_C

you honestly think more people have seen the gus van sant version than the hitchcock original? LOL.
