Counterpart Trailer: A Sci-fi Spy Series Starring J.K. Simmons

Hey, remember Justin Marks? Back in the mid-2000s he was one of the hottest screenwriters in Hollywood, attached to write live-action adaptations of properties like He-Man and Voltron, many of which never saw the light of day. Now with a major hit under his belt (Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book) he has created an intriguing new series for Starz called Counterpart. The show stars J.K. Simmons as man who learns about the existence of a parallel world identical to ours that was created as part of a Cold War experiment. He must team up with his “counterpart” from that world in order to help keep the peace between them. It is a pretty cool concept and I, for one, will definitely be checking it out. Counterpart premieres on Starz on Jan. 21st; check out the full trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Looks fine, but it reminds me of Fringe from the third season on. Those were the most interesting aspects of Fringe, so I’ll probably check this out at some point.
