A Prayer Before Dawn Trailer: A Thai Prison Kickboxing Drama

If you thought the recent Kickboxer remake was a bit of a disappointment, perhaps this upcoming Muay Thai action flick will make it up to you. A Prayer Before Dawn debuted at Cannes earlier this year as part of the Midnight program where it seemingly left an impression with its brutality and shocking violence. Now A24 will be giving it a release sometime in 2018 and the first trailer has arrived online. Directed by French filmmaker Jean-Stephane Sauvaire (Johnny Mad Dog), it is based on the true story Billy Moore, a British criminal who served time in a Thai prison and survived by becoming a kickboxing champion. The film stars Joe Cole (Green Room, Peaky Blinders) and it was shot in a real Thai prison with a supporting cast of real inmates. A Prayer Before Dawn hits theatres in 2018; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

the whole thing is in the trailer. and it’s not that effective visually. i feel like those 2 seconds of thai boxing in Only God Forgives looked better than any of this.
