Monday Morning Box Office Report: Boo 2! Weathers Geostorm

It was a fairly dull weekend at the box office as Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween easily scared off all other newcomers, taking in an estimated $21.65 million. That’s $7 million less than the first Madea Halloween movie made but it is still well within range of most of Perry’s movies, which have been impressively consistent over the past decade. In second place, Geostorm earned $13.3 million which is pretty pathetic considering its $120 million price tag but at least it has made another $49.6 million overseas. Happy Death Day fell to third followed by Blade Runner 2049. Rounding out the top 5, Only the Brave opened with just $6 million despite a star-studded cast and plenty of critical praise. Way down in eighth place, The Snowman did even worse with a pitiful $3.4 million. Whether or not the awful reviews had anything to do with that remains to be seen.
