New to Theatres This Weekend: Geostorm, Only the Brave, The Snowman

We’ve got plenty of new movies in wide release this weekend, although it is debatable whether or not any of them are worth getting excited about. Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween should top the box office without too much trouble, while Josh Brolin / Miles Teller / Jeff Bridges firefighter drama Only the Brave seems to be the weekend’s critical favourite. On the other hand, The Snowman starring Michael Fassbender is getting trounced by critics while the disaster movie Geostorm is not faring much better. In select theatres, we have Todd Haynes’ Wonderstruck as well as the latest film from the director of Dogtooth and The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer. What will you be watching this weekend?

The reviews for The Snowman are brutal. Which is a shame cause I love Fassbender and his recent choices have not been good. Think it’s time for Steve McQueen to make another film…

Definitely nothing to get excited about. But The Snowman might be something worth checking out of sheer morbid curiosity.

I hope you guys are planning to review Geostorm this week. I’m curious to see if Dean Devlin can deliver a better disaster flick than his cohort, Roland Emmerich,
