Regarding the mini-trailer at the begging of trailers:

    http://screencrush.com/why-are-there-mini-trailers-before-the-trailers-on-youtube/

  • devolutionary

Classic Frank declaration. 5-pin bowling is indeed Canada only; although I would be amused if it was played elsewhere. It is debateable whether it’s harder. Smaller, lighter bowling ball, greater room for error. But like anything, once you get into a rhythm, it can feel similar.

  • Marc Inman

Please include Vamp on the 80’s Vampire premium! It creeped me out as a kid and Grace Jones is an awesome vampire.

  • Lori Cerny

Can’t vote on Twitter – my account’s been suspended… again!!!

  • Lori Cerny

Sean, since you don’t like re-watching movies, how did it feel force-feeding Blade Runner for all those years?

  • Sean

I wouldn’t say I dislike rewatching movies, I just always seem to prioritize movies I haven’t seen before because I feel like there’s still so much to catch up on.

But the term force feed is obviously somewhat tongue in cheek, at least in this case. There was always something new to get out of it and always something drawing me back to it. Ironically, I probably have seen it more times than a lot of movies on my top 100 list.

  • schizopolis

    Frankie…easiest Halloween costume…Harvey Weinstein!

Don’t shave 2-3 days before, spray-on hair, black sports jacket, pocket full of M&M’s and a case of diet coke. Done!

  • Samb

“Tremors” is great. That is all.

  • Karl with a K

Megan Ellison can fill any void left by Weinstein. She’s already given numerous filmmakers the opportunity to make their film their way. Just look at A24’s list of produced films. There are some duds, sure, but most are great movies and ones that probably would not have been made elsewhere. PTA had practically given up on getting The Master made until she came along.

  • Karl with a K

not sure why I said A24. Her company is Annapurna Pictures.

  • Nick

Good show, guys. Will there be a horror special as usual for Halloween?

Try and see if you can get this movie somehow:

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094730/

It is perhaps one of the most classic Swedish horrors of all time. It is pretty decent.

  • pcch7

Frank had Sean up against the ropes there haha, another top 100 episode is probably due I’d say. Would be great. A combined list would also be intriguing given your different mentalities when it comes to sorting them.

  • pcch7

I agree with what you said about it getting better each time. It’s my favorite film at this point

  • pcch7

And who knew that Frank would be a bowling master. The world is a wondrous place

  • Theo

Ahaa. I knew it’d be something like this. Something vile. Thanks (this was my question).

  • ProjectGenesis

And Once Bitten with Jim Carrey!

  • Frankie Knuckles

I bowled again last night and I was shit … not a master …. I’m a complete piece of shit … I just got lucky once. But I did enjoy watching my competitors squirm, hating how lucky I was.

  • pcch7

Better to be lucky than to be good =D

  • Kevin Cardoza

Film Junk is the only podcast where a primary focus of a movie review is discussing whether or not the definition on the lead character’s abdominal muscles is real or artificially enhanced. Classic Frank.

  • iammattz

To steal a phrase from the Gasman… it’s time, IT’S TIME!!!

  • Sean

Yeah we’ll probably try to do something Halloween-y for Halloween. We have not decided what we’ll watch yet… perhaps Happy Death Day or something on VOD but thanks for the suggestion.

  • Sean

A combined list could be an interesting way to change it up although I’m sure it would just result in arguing about how much combined lists suck. Maybe we could do it by decade or by year this time instead.

  • Matt the Kiwi

Hope it’s ok with you guys if I adopt ‘No Chan do’ as my standard response at work for the foreseeable future. Too good to let it die with the podcast.

  • Craig

Night Of The Hunter was my first thought when it came to “one great film and out” directors.

I have another, Gilles Mimouni made a film in 1996 called L’Appartement (remade as Wicker Park that I haven’t seen) which was a Hitchcock type thriller starring Vincent Cassel and Monica Belluci. He’s still alive but hasn’t done anything bar a couple of TV things since.

    Well worth seeking out.

  • Sam

Yeah, Charles Laughton is always the go-to.

Robin Hardy would be a close one with The Wicker Man if he hadn’t tried making a sequel fairly recently that by all accounts I’ve heard is terrible.

  • Mark Bisi

In defense of Brosnan, he’s doing a Belfast accent which is very weird-sounding and a little different from the typical Lucky Charms Irish accent.

  • Nobody

Frank noticed Chan’s abs but not his old man makeup? I didn’t notice his abs but I’m guessing they’re not fake, although I can see the strategy of making him appear even older than he is and then surprising viewers with a look at his great enhanced Chan body.

  • Essie

Thank you for the podcast. I love the show but cringe when you guys talk about sexual assault in such a flippant way lol. Can’t wait for vampire 80s premium!

edit: to be clear it was awesome to hear frank call harvey a piece of shit!

  • Beat_C

i didn’t feel like they were being flippant, more like they felt they had nothing substantial to add.

  • gibson8

I don’t know why they insist on commenting about accents when they have insufficient knowledge about the regions involved to have an opinion. It sounded like Brosnan had been directed to do a Neeson.

  • gibson8

except laughter and flatulence from Frank.

  • Sean

I was actually reading some stuff after the show and it’s not the first time Brosnan has been called out for a bad Irish accent. Apparently he does a bad one in that movie I.T. as well as a movie from the ‘80s called Taffin. Not sure if those were supposed to be Northern accents as well though.

  • devolutionary

Forget Irish accent. If you want to hear a terrible Brosnan accent go watch his performance in John McTiernan’s debut, Nomads. One of the most ridiculous faux French accents I’ve ever heard.

  • Lior

It helps that there are five different versions of the thing, so you can pick and choose and have a different experience each time. Personally I can’t even remember which version I’ve seen when.

  • BANE Helsing

#ContinueTheBurpsJay, my girlfriend loves it . Also curious to know y’all’s take on Alienate, just saw it and it was interesting but then again it wasn’t . The ending was kinda dumb, I was hoping for more, but there were great parts which would have been even better. Batman forever hashtag mwahzzz

  • Jameson

Yeah, The Wicker Tree is awful. I was shocked to see Hardy was the director of it. It’s closer in quality to the Nic Cage Wicker Man.
