Black Panther Trailer #2

With Thor: Ragnarok set to premiere internationally next week, Marvel has unveiled a brand new trailer for their next MCU film, Black Panther, which hits theatres early next year. The full trailer uses of many of the same money shots as the previous trailer but it mixes in a lot more footage of the supporting cast (in particular, Michael B. Jordan as villain Erik Killmonger) and plenty of that sweet, sweet Wakandan tech as well. Directed by Ryan Coogler (Creed), the movie looks to have its own unique aesthetic that will set it apart from the rest of the Marvel films. Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis and it hits theatres on Feb. 16th. Check out the full trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

So Black Panther is fighting Michael B. Jordan who’s wearing another Black Panther suit? Why do these comic book heroes always have to fight an evil version of themselves (Superman vs. Zod, Logan vs. X-24, Iron Man vs. Iron Monger, Hulk vs. Abomination)? Geez Louise.

Certainly looks more “cinematic” than the rest of the MCU. It still looks like s stupid movie though.

Perhaps because comic book movies are brain dead?

    Another Marvel snoozefest

I was hoping the whole movie would take place in Wakanda. Oh well.

If I had to offer a theory it would be that these comic book universes are filled with characters that are wildly different in terms of power so the match-ups are always at an equitable level that can still create suspense. It’s a particularly boring way to solve a real problem with this type of story-telling.
