Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer #2

Following its premiere during Monday Night Football tonight, the new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has finally hit the web and is now ready to be watched over and over again until your eyes bleed. The trailer features a lot more footage of Luke training Rey on Ahch-To and we also see Kylo Ren’s resolve being tested as he is driven further to the dark side. We also get our first look at the lovable Porgs and a few other interesting creatures, plus a bit of Supreme Leader Snoke in person and an intriguing twist at the end of the trailer. That being said, the majority of the plot still remains a mystery. Can Rian Johnson deliver a fantastic follow-up to The Force Awakens? Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theatres on Dec. 15th; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

What I see looks good but I think they show way too much.

It’s always exciting to see a brand new Star Wars trailer but I can’t say I’ve seen anything particularly new here: light sabers, “show me the way”, space battles, strange critters, more space battles, “you are not ready”, darkness, space battles, storm troopers, light sabers, darkness, “fulfill your destiny”. Empire strikes back… again?

  • Lisa Naarseth Myklebust

Trailer spoils everything. Shows Ben shooting the ship his mother’s in (and possibly killing her). Shows Finn back and kicking again. Shows a questionable (plot twist like) meeting up of Ben and Rey in the end

Trailers used to give you a taste of the story before, but these days they reveal the entire plot.

ice fox – i liked that

Some (possibly) misleading cutting going on in the trailer. The one at the end with Rey and Kylo Ren sticks out.

What I notice is there are only five comments on this topic (now six :-)) about 24 hours since Sean published it. I’m comparing it to the Force Awakens trailer post which went into the double-digits in only a few hours if I recall correctly. I wonder what this means with regards to the general interest in this movie. Star Wars over-saturation already?

  • Sean

Either that or cinema is dead. :)

The Force Awakens was the first Star Wars movie in over a decade so it’s not really a fair comparison.

I’ve also found that a lot of people are avoiding this trailer because Rian Johnson himself has hinted that it has spoilers in it. I’m pretty sure they’re all red herrings though.

  • Lior

I didn’t see any obvious spoilers. Of course, you can’t really tell a spoiler from a non-spoiler until you actually watch the movie. Anyway, what an odd thing for the director of a movie to say. To some degree, every trailer spoils a film, it all depends on your sensitivity.

    Does everything look weirdly rubbery?
