45 minutes of Junk Mail makes me happy

  • Colin

    Solid fidget spinner casting

  • Gordo

We need a new Pete Berg movie to come out ASAP to get Jay to believe in Cinema again.

  • devolutionary

I get the feeling that while watching “A Ghost Story”, Jay was hoping that Michael Myers was under the ghost sheet instead.

  • Drewcore

I would buy at least 5 Fidget Glaives if they made FJ branded ones.

  • Lori Cerny

I am always thoroughly entertained by Film Junk. Think I like listening to FJ more than watching movies!

  • Sam
  • When Jay goes into his rant about Twitter during the review, did he initially refer to “Interstellar” as “Interception”?

  • DrewNugent

    I think he did lol

  • Karl with a K

It’s the crossover film we all need.

  • Karl with a K

Frank, please upload a picture of you as Ghost of the Panda Chef. I need to see this.

  • schizopolis

I don’t think Jay is playing a character on the show. But, I think he probably plays a character in real life. Howard Stern perfected this. He would be his true funny asshole self on his show. Then off-air, he’d be uber nice and charming. So everyone that met him personally would be impressed and say that he’s nothing like the crass shock jock on radio. It’s the greatest con game.

  • Tommy

Complaining about the Silver bike in IT was absolutely justified. If we’re going to criticize the kids caring about Street Fighter 1, or any 80’s signifying posters on the walls, a 14 year old giving a shit about The Lone Ranger in 1988 is absolutely unbelievable.

  • traie

Just a heads up that I’ve spotted Ain’t Them Bodies Saints on Baby Blu at Dollarama here in Quebec so have a look in your neck of the woods next time you’re picking up fake KD, batteries or garbage bags.

  • bobsponge42

    My rating for this episode:??????

  • Ben

Stern is now the opposite of this. He’s turned all PC and the show isn’t the same, and according to the rumors has become a dick in real life.

  • Jake

It isn’t that crazy. There are always reruns of old shows. I grew up in the 80s and watched old reruns of TV shows all the time. I can recall the old Adam West Batman series and The Lone Ranger being shown back-to-back. Nick at Nite also had marathons of old series all the time in the 80s. A kid in 1988 being aware or even a fan of The Lone Ranger, while not the norm, isn’t unbelievable.

  • “Tumor Raider” ????????????

  • Jameson

I’m with Jay that you have to judge each film on its own merits. I don’t look at Eraserhead the same way I look at The Lion King cause the films are going for completely different things even if I give them the same star rating.

  • schizopolis

Wow..he must be miserable. I figured that facade was what kept him balanced. I stopped listening to him over a decade ago. Once Artie left, the show was over for me. Now Stern is a billionaire with a Barbie doll wife…yet he still has his army of fans.

  • Indianamcclain

The plot of The Book of Henry sounds like a comedy.

  • Ben

Artie leaving was definitely the beginning of the end. He’s got a couple of new producers who are apparently the main reason for all the changes. What did it for me was when he announced that the HowardTV deal wasn’t being renewed. This was a few years ago, but the crew had not been informed yet so they basically found out they were being fired on the air. And these are guys who have been with him for decades, working for the E! show before moving to HTV. Not having Gange, DePace, Goodstein, Richie Wilson, Brian Phalen, among others on the show was a huge loss. Sal and Richard’s airtime has also been reduced.

I know this isn’t a Stern forum (long live Film Junk!), but like yourself I was a big fan and never once thought I would abandon the Stern show. I occasionally still listen to some of his interviews, because he can still hold a pretty engaging conversation with celebrities, but all the on air antics with the staff/crew – aka the show’s bread and butter – is gone.

Gotta be Harrison Ford with Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Blade Runner, Return of the Jedi and Temple of Doom

  • Dstrbpx

I must congratulate Jay on his seeming testicular fortitude on this week´s FJ.. Here´s to the return of furious, non-CoPO-emasculated, balls-of-steel Cheel!

  • pcch7

I only learned of Johannsson being replaced from listening to this. What the fuck… Zimmer is good but fucking come onnnnnn. Boring. I’m gonna assume that the music in the first trailer was Johannssons, and that was perfect.

  • We’re you guys going to review GOOD TIME or did I miss it and you already did? Definitely one of the best movies of the year in my opinion.

  • Sean

We have not reviewed it yet. Hopefully once it comes to VOD or Blu-ray.

  • Larry Morgan

SERIOUSLY, I mean LOOK AT THIS (tbh Mosquito Coast and Witness are great)

  • pcch7

Haven’t seen them so I didn’t mention them haha. But yeah it’s pretty insane

When is the next premium coming out? I would like to put in my two cents for an Aronofsky premium.

  • Sean

Stephen King premium is recording this weekend and then the next premium will be Poltergeist. After that we’re not sure.

  • LordAwesome

Here’s some research material for your POLTERGEIST premium, conclusively showing The Berg on set directing:

  • Chris Bell

The news that “Hans Zimmer” has taken over scoring duties on the new Blade Runner movie is disappointing. I’m sure this has probably happened before for various reasons, I just wonder how many “lost” scores are out there. So did it only take Zimmer and his team a couple of months to compose the entire new score? Seems very last minute! Anyway, someone should do a documentary about these unwanted scores and the reasons they never saw the light of day.

  • pcch7

Hopefully we get a “Johannsson” cut at some point. Would be fitting

  • Kishi Jugo

Rian J, the man, has flaked
Now Abrams J is on the take
And Ronny H gets to make
But Kathleen K, she takes the cake
She leaves them all in the Copo wake.
