Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs Trailer

isleofdogs

It’s been nine years since Fantastic Mr. Fox and Wes Anderson is finally returning to stop motion animation for his next feature film, Isle of Dogs. This one is based entirely on his own original screenplay and it is set 20 years in the future where a dog flu outbreak in Japan forces the mayor of Megasaki City to banish all canine pets to live on Trash Island. This prompts 12-year-old Atari Kobayashi to steal a plane and set off to rescue his dog Spots. The voice cast includes many familiar Wes Anderson collaborators and some new ones including Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston, Liev Schreiber, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Greta Gerwig, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Jeff Goldblum and Harvey Keitel. Clearly the dry humour and quirky characters are here, but it also has a hint of science-fiction that we’ve never really seen from Wes Anderson before. Isle of Dogs hits theatres on March 23rd, 2018; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

Loved TFMF and this looks even better! Oh yeah I’m in!

Looks great, but there’s something weird with all the recent western takes on future Japan with Big Hero 6, Will Smith’s kid’s anime series and now this, which don’t quite sit right with me. Atari Kobayashi?

Did Wes Anderson steal Reed Farringtons ‘Planet of the Dogs’ idea? I think Reed should sue if he still has the comic strip somewhere.
