John Woo’s Manhunt Trailer

manhunt

It’s been 25 years since John Woo has directed one of his patented Hong Kong action flicks, but this year the so-called maestro is back with a new movie called Manhunt. After returning to China to helm a couple of two part period epics, Red Cliff and The Crossing, this movie finds him back in Hard Boiled mode although sadly his former muse Chow Yun-fat did not come along for the ride. A loose remake of a 1976 Japanese film called Kimi yo Fundo no Kawa o Watare (Hot Pursuit), the plot revolves around a prosecutor who sets out to clear his name after being accused of a heinous crime he didn’t commit. No word on whether any doves will be involved. Manhunt premieres in Venice and Toronto next month before hitting theatres in China on Feb. 16th. Check out the first trailer after the jump and see what you think.

This trailer feels like it’s from the ’90s but if this is anywhere near the quality of The Killer or Hard Boiled then I’m stoked.
