Todd Haynes’ Wonderstruck Trailer

wonderstruck

Following up on his highly acclaimed and Oscar-nominated film Carol, Todd Haynes is opting for something a little bit different: a PG-rated adaptation of a young adult novel. But don’t expect another Hunger Games or Divergent clone… this one is based on a book by Brian Selznick (The Invention of Hugo Cabret) and it revolves around two deaf children living in New York in different time periods whose lives unfold “with mesmerizing symmetry.” Ben (Oakes Fegley of Pete’s Dragon) lives in 1977 while Rose (Millicent Simmonds) is in 1927 and her story appears to be shot in black-in-white. Wonderstruck co-stars Julianne Moore, Michelle Williams and James Urbaniak and it hits select theatres on Oct. 20th. Check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
