Polaroid Trailer: The Ring Meets Final Destination

Over the years, the last week in August has become a pretty reliable dumping ground for horror movies, most of which usually end up being not so great. This year Dimension has reserved that dubious release slot for their supernatural thriller Polaroid, which looks like a mash-up of The Ring, Final Destination and the Thai horror flick Shutter (among other things). The plot revolves around a vintage camera that may or may not be causing its subjects to mysteriously die soon after being caught on film. Directed by Lars Klevberg (based on his own short) and written by former G4 TV personality Blair Butler, Polaroid hits theatres on Aug. 25th. I’ll give it a go. At least it isn’t found footage.

Crap. I was hoping to get my “Betamax” screenplay produced before Halloween.

This was the plot of a Goosebumps book, “Say Cheese and Die”, which was also made into a TV episode, made back in the early 90’s

More like the PG-13/R-rated version of the Goosebumps book/episode “Say Cheese and Die”
