New to Theatres This Weekend: Cars 3, Rough Night, All Eyez on Me

We’ve got four new movies in wide release this weekend and, as we’ve come to expect so far this summer, none of them seem to generating particularly positive reviews. Pixar’s Cars 3 is probably the biggest release of the week and seems to be an improvement on the last Cars installment but it won’t come anywhere close to the success they had with Finding Dory last year. Also hitting theatres we have the R-rated bachelorette party comedy Rough Night, the Tupac biopic All Eyez on Me, and the VOD-turned-theatrical shark thriller 47 Meters Down. Colin Trevorrow’s new movie The Book of Henry is also playing on 500+ screens, although it is getting absolutely trounced by critics and is causing people to have concerns about his next movie, Star Wars: Episode IX. In select theatres, you can also look for Ken Loach’s latest film I, Daniel Blake. What will you be watching this weekend?

Was 47 Meters Down actually going to be a VOD release, or are you just saying it looks like “VOD Trash”?

I’m pretty sure I read that it was planned as a VOD release and then at some point they decided to kick it up to theatrical.
