New to Theatres This Weekend: The Mummy, It Comes at Night, Megan Leavey

Universal officially kicks off their so-called Dark Universe this weekend with the release of The Mummy starring Tom Cruise. Reviews are looking pretty harsh so far but will Tom Cruise fans come out and support it regardless? The movie faces competition from another much smaller but seemingly well-received horror movie: A24’s It Comes at Night starring Joel Edgerton. Also in wide release this weekend we have the military biopic Megan Leavey starring Kate Mara, which seems like an odd choice for a summer release but could be a hit if it taps into the American Sniper crowd. In select theatres, look for My Cousin Rachel starring Rachel Weisz and Miguel Arteta’s satirical dramedy Beatriz at Dinner starring Salma Hayek. What will you be watching this weekend?

As a Tom Cruise and Mummy fan I had to go see this and I really enjoyed this.
It’s a bit different from the other Mummy movies. Wish the trailers didn’t give so much away!

is it good as a single movie or just another mediocre universe-starter? i’ve heard different things about this.
