The Mummy Trailer #3

In a summer full of questionable sequels and unknown newcomers, one of the biggest question marks of all is Universal’s upcoming reboot of The Mummy. Tom Cruise has struggled with his image in recent years but remains one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, while The Mummy is a well-known and iconic horror villain that is in dire need of reinvention. Can writer-producer Alex Kurtzman pull that off while also kickstarting a brand new cinematic universe? It’s still anyone’s guess. The latest trailer showcases some giant action sequences and plenty shots of Tom Cruise running, but it seems like that may come at the cost of the franchise’s horror roots. The Mummy co-stars Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Russell Crowe and Jake Johnson and it hits theatres on June 9th. Check out the latest trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

The Mummy + Mission: Impossible + Edge of Tomorrow.

    Looks like fun.

I was not expecting so much humor. Definitely a must-see for me.

It’s really to bad Universal turned their horror franchise into a typical action movie. Pure Horror (with some action) tied in with Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman and the other Universal creatures would have really set it apart from the rest of the action franchises out there. Plus Kurtzman sucks eggs.

Really liked Cruises last few movies like Oblivion and EOT but this looks like a Mission Impossible Action Mashup. I’ll wait till Netflix.

I totally agree with you. When I first heard about it, I thought this could be an interesting and special concept: A cinematic horror universe full of creepy creatures, maybe with a sight retro feel. Now it looks like the dumbest thing ever, i hope this movie bombs.
