Arrested Development Season 5 Officially Announced

When Netflix revived Arrested Development for a fourth season back in 2013, it was pretty huge news and one of the things that really put them on the map as an original content provider. The fourth season ended up getting mixed reviews, but many fans remained hopeful that it would not be the end for the Bluth family. Late last week Jason Bateman announced via Twitter that he had signed on for more Arrested Development, indicating that a new season was imminent. Now this week we have an official announcement from Netflix and it looks like the entire primary cast is back. Series creator Mitch Hurwitz had this to say:

“In talks with Netflix we all felt that stories about a narcissistic, erratically behaving family in the building business — and their desperate abuses of power — are really underrepresented on TV these days… I am so grateful to them and to 20th TV for making this dream of mine come true in bringing the Bluths, George Sr., Lucille and the kids; Michael, Ivanka, Don Jr., Eric, George-Michael, and who am I forgetting, oh Tiffany. Did I say Tiffany? — back to the glorious stream of life.”

The fourth season of Arrested Development was widely criticized for having mostly character-specific episodes that kept the family members separated (largely due to scheduling issues). They have stated that they are trying to avoid that this time around, although with such a large and in-demand cast, it may be difficult. The new season is expected to drop sometime in 2018. Are you looking forward to another season of Arrested Development?

Whatever happened to the movie, lol? I remember before the Netflix deal they were saying there would be another season that would then lead into a movie. And before that there was always talk of a movie. I guess they’ve decided not to do that.
