Terminator 2: Judgment Day 3D Trailer

t23d

Just when you thought 3D re-releases of classic movies were all but a thing of the past, along comes James Cameron to remind you that 3D is still the future of cinema! He’s been talking about a re-release of Terminator 2 for some time now and it appears that it is still happening with a limited theatrical release planned for the end of the summer. Cameron has four 3D Avatar sequels on the way and he’s also involved in the next Terminator movie so he may have some ulterior motives here, but even if you’re not interested in any of that stuff, it’s worth noting that it is also a 4K remaster and this new trailer actually looks pretty gorgeous. Does this seem like something worth checking out on the big screen? Terminator 2: Judgment Day 3D hits select theaters on Aug. 25th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Around the Web:

  • I wonder if this will be the Extended version of the film? I HOPE SO!

  • Lori Cerny

Methinks Cameron is desperate to keep his 3D tech company afloat.

There is no reason for T2 to be in 3D, the 4K is great, but seriously… who is going to see this in a theater?

  • LordAwesome

CGI-ed face replacement of the stuntman at 1:30?

  • LordAwesome

    The Chinese.

The extended version is vastly inferior to the theatrical cuts. Bloats the film with a lot of unnecessary scenes that just repeat information we already now.

  • I’m going. I saw Jurassic Park 3D theatrically and it was spectacular. I’m hoping this will be equally as good.

  • Newtman98

Oh man, I did not like the extended version at all. I thought it changed the entire tone of the movie. Is the extended version the one where michael biehn shows up in a vision in the hospital?

  • Newtman98

I’m in too. I’m a sucker for this type of stuff.

  • Yeah I wasn’t crazy about that scene. But the whole part about how the T-1000 was glitching after he was frozen and shattered was awesome! The part that explained why T-800 (model 101) was suddenly learning things (because the cpu was on read only before they took it out of his head and changed it) answered necessary questions as well IMO

    Seems so, nice catch.

They are mainly doing this for the Chinese market, since they never got a release back in 1991. Plus the Chinese theater goers really liked the last one. DMG Entertainment (Chinese company) help put this project together with James Cameron.

  • Claudio

i do. as many times as humanly possible. it’s the greatest actionfilm of all time and to see this on the big screen is one of my childhood dreams. and this year i finally can do it!

  • Lori Cerny

Better than Aliens?!?!? You must be kidding! Aliens is almost a perfect film AND it doesn’t have Edward Furlong. (*smile)

  • Claudio

well, i’ve never looked at aliens as an actionfilm. it’s sci-fi with 2 action scenes :D
oh and i really like furlong in T2. sorry ^^

Haha. Maybe the FJ crew can do a head-to-head fight over these two films, perhaps a new game they can toss in on occasion.
