Monday Morning Box Office Report: The Fate of the Furious Races to $1 Billion Worldwide


The Fate of the Furious continued to roll over the competition this past weekend, topping the box office for the third weekend in a row and crossing the $1 billion mark. It took a few days longer than Furious 7 and although part 8 continues to lag behind its predecessor domestically, it has now become China’s highest grossing import of all time. In second place, How to be a Latin Lover had a spectacular debut, opening to $12 million from just over 1000 screens, while Tollywood epic Baahubali 2: The Conclusion also surprised with $10 million on just 425 screens. In fourth place, The Circle disappointed with $9 million while The Boss Baby rounded out the top 5. Elsewhere, Sleight opened outside the top 10 with $1.7 million while Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire continues to free fall, earning just $287K in its second weekend.
