Although Ryan Reynolds has turned in a few decent dramatic performances over the years, the success of Deadpool seems to prove that audiences prefer to see him in comedies (especially R-rated ones). He is embracing that fact with another R-rated action comedy this summer that finds him teaming up with Samuel L. Jackson, a potentially inspired pairing for a buddy comedy. Reynolds plays a protection agent who is tasked with safeguarding a notorious hitman (Jackson) for 24 hours so that he can testify in court. Needless to say, he is not interested in co-operating. Directed by Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3), The Hitman’s Bodyguard also co-stars Gary Oldman, Salma Hayek and Elodie Yung. The movie hits theatres on Aug. 18th; check out the red band trailer after the jump and see what you think.
