Here’s a new trailer for David Leitch’s upcoming action thriller Atomic Blonde, which is no doubt being released this week so that it can play in theatres with The Fate of the Furious this weekend. Charlize Theron is taking on another tough girl role as Lorraine Broughton, an MI-6 agent sent to investigate the murder of a fellow spy and to recover a list of double agents that may have fallen into enemy hands. The movie does appear to maintain the period setting of the source graphic novel (which takes place in 1989 Berlin just prior to the fall of the Berlin Wall), although aside from the New Order and Depeche Mode songs, it’s definitely working pretty hard to feel like anything but a period piece. It does have the potential to be a late summer hit, however, and it doesn’t hurt that August is looking pretty empty right now. Atomic Blonde co-stars James McAvoy, John Goodman, Sofia Boutella and Toby Jones and it hits theatres on July 28th. Check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
