New to Theatres This Weekend: Logan, Before I Fall, Table 19

The first major blockbuster of the year hits theatres this weekend, although there seems to be some question as to how it will perform given the fact that it is an R-rated movie and Hugh Jackman’s last solo outing opened to a lukewarm $53 million. That being said, reviews for Logan are very positive, there isn’t much competition and it is supposedly Jackman’s last time playing the character which should attract a slightly bigger crowd. Also in wide release we have the Groundhog Day-esque indie flick Before I Fall starring Zoey Deutch and the faith-based drama The Shack starring Sam Worthington. The Duplass Brothers-produced dramedy Table 19 starring Anna Kendrick is also opening on over 800 screens this weekend. In select theatres, we have Headshot starring Iko Uwais, Louis Theroux’s My Scientology Movie and Contemporary Color, the Ross Brothers documentary about David Byrne’s color guard tour. What will you be watching this weekend?

Since ‘R’ is the new hotness thanks to Deadpool I would bet that Logan makes more than its PG-13 predecessor.
