Imperial Dreams Trailer Starring John Boyega

Star Wars: The Force Awakens star John Boyega will be appearing in at least three major films this year including Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled Detroit riot film, James Ponsoldt’s The Circle, and of course, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. But before any of those hit theatres, Netflix will be releasing an indie drama that premiered at Sundance back in 2014 called Imperial Dreams. Boyega plays a young offender who is living on the streets of L.A. after spending two years in prison. He struggles to avoid returning to a life a crime while also looking after his 4-year-old son. It’s unclear why the movie has taken so long to get a release but it received fairly strong reviews back when it originally premiered. Either way I guess we’ll find out if it delivers soon enough because the movie hits Netflix in just a few days. Imperial Dreams arrives on Feb. 3rd; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

I haven’t seen any Star Wars films since Return of the Jedi, so I’m not tainted by the COPO against Boyega.

I’ll watch Imperial Dreams, but it does look way too similar to The Pursuit of Happyness.

  • Am I the only one that finds the netflix branding kinda… icky?

There’s a COPO backlash against Boyega?
