New to Theatres This Weekend: Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Gold, A Dog’s Purpose
Sony and Capcom have some nice “corporate synergy” going this weekend as Resident Evil: The Final Chapter hits theatres just a few days after the release of the latest video game installment, Resident Evil 7. This is the sixth movie in the long-running series and will supposedly be the last for Milla Jovovich although something tells me it won’t be the last for Screen Gems. Also in wide release we have Stephen Gaghan’s Gold, the prestige drama starring Matthew McConaughey and Edgar Ramirez (which is getting snubbed by both the Academy and critics) and A Dog’s Purpose, the Amblin family drama which is currently mired in controversy over the treatment of its canine stars. In select theatres, we have Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar-nominated film The Salesman and the Jackie Chan adventure comedy Kung Fu Yoga. What will you be watching this weekend?
