Walter Hill’s The Assignment Trailer Starring Michelle Rodriguez

Under normal circumstances a new original film from cult writer-director Walter Hill (The Warriors, 48 Hrs.) would be cause for celebration, but given the mixed reception that his latest film received at TIFF last year, it may not be the comeback that fans had been hoping for. Originally titled (Re)Assignment, the movie stars Michelle Rodriguez as a formerly male hitman seeking revenge after being kidnapped by gangsters and given gender reassignment surgery against his will. I’m sure you can see how that might be problematic for some, but at the same time, it’s a pretty provocative b-movie premise that no doubt makes it must-see material for a certain audience. The movie has since been given the much more generic title The Assignment and will apparently get some sort of release from Saban Films in the near future although details on that are still TBA. The Assignment co-stars Sigourney Weaver, Tony Shalhoub and Caitlin Gerard; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

Ana Lucia, Monk and Ripley. The guy who made Streets of Fire. Nice

  • Lori Cerny

That trailer played like an intro to a video game NOT a theatrical release.

(sigh) I’ve always rooted for Rodriguez, but don’t know why she never gets better roles.
