New to Theatres This Weekend: Underworld: Blood Wars, A Monster Calls, I, Daniel Blake

The first major release of 2017 is upon us and it is… Underworld: Blood Wars. Billed as Kate Beckinsale’s final Underworld film, this one is expected to come in a little lower than previous installments and as such seems unlikely to dethrone Rogue One. Other than that, we also have a handful of awards season expansions including J.A. Bayona’s A Monster Calls and Theodore Melfi’s Hidden Figures, both of which are now in wide release, along with a significant bump in theatre count for Lion starring Dev Patel. In select theatres, we also have Ken Loach’s latest film I, Daniel Blake, plus a new period action-comedy starring Jackie Chan called Railroad Tigers. What will you be watching this weekend?
