We’ve been hearing about a potential adaptation of David Grann’s The Lost City of Z for many years now, but it looks as though the movie is finally happening and the first trailer has arrived this week courtesy of Amazon Studios. Based on a true story, the movie revolves around British explorer Percy Fawcett who travelled to the Amazon in the 1920s in search of a lost civilization, only to mysteriously disappear along with his son. Brad Pitt was attached to star once upon a time, but he was later replaced by Benedict Cumberbatch, who was then replaced by Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam. Not only is it exciting to see another classic jungle adventure coming to the big screen, but it is also a retelling of the story that helped inspired many famous fictional explorers over the years including Indiana Jones. The movie is directed by James Gray (The Immigrant, Two Lovers) and co-stars Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland, and Sienna Miller. The Lost City of Z hits theatres on April 21st; check out the first trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
