Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer

spidermanhomecoming

Hot on the heels of its premiere during Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight, the first trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming is now online for all to see. The movie stars Tom Holland and follows the events of Captain America: Civil War where Spider-Man was officially welcomed into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The trailer definitely makes a point of showing off a more comedic approach to the character and prominently features Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, continuing his role as a mentor to Peter Parker. It also features a brief glimpse of Michael Keaton as Vulture, but let’s be honest… the only thing anyone seems to be talking about is the fact that Spidey’s costume has wings! Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theatres on July 7th; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

It’s strange how on the 10th anniversary of each Raimi film a new Spider-Man film is released.

  • Tommy

    Ehh.

  • Anthony

    THAT IS VERY STRANGE!!!

  • Jameson

It’s a shame that they don’t trust Spidey enough to sell the movie that they have to put Tony Stark at the front of the marketing.

  • Todd S. Gallows

Well it looks like a Marvel movie. Every last one.

  • Puzzy Cutz

Exactly, I just watched the new GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 trailer and after watching the Spider-man trailer it’s like, come on, guys why does Spiderman need a cast of aliens running around space.

And, then if you go back to the last release DR.STRANGE, this Spider-man trailer had another scene where Peter warps reality as a rich surgeon.

Perhaps the worst offender was CIVIL WAR, it actually had the exact same actor playing some sort of Spider-man in it!

I don’t think it looks that bad. Fandom is tough man.

Holland looks interesting…has the voice of a kid, but the face of a 30 year old. Strange.

Add this to the list of Marvel films that look televisual and totally uninspired and uninteresting. How do the majority of critics and fans not have a problem with this? Dr Strange was an improvement and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 looks good but this one is so bad it’s distracting. Beyond the look of the film, nothing in the trailer excited me. Tom Holland seems OK as Peter Parker but his Spiderman isn’t working for me and the constant quips are particularly irritating. Not looking forward to this one.

Complete agree on the visual style. So bland.

  • Deven Science

So, to recap, Michael Keaton has played Batman, Birdman, and the Vulture. He specializes in playing heroes modeled after flying animals.

I also think that they want to emphasize to everybody that Spidey is in the MCU now.

I have to be honest, that hug/car door gag got a burst of laughter from me.
Otherwise the effects look mediocre to bad, but I like the main kid and the school setting. (Also the retro web cobs under his arms are awesome!)
Not sure about the trailer reveal of his friend finding out he’s the web slinger..
