The Circle Trailer Starring Emma Watson

thecircle

Here’s the first trailer for what just might be one of my most anticipated movies of next year: James Ponsoldt’s The Circle. Based on the novel by Dave Eggers, the movie takes place in the near future where a tech company called The Circle strives to make the world a better place by building a social network and technology that allows everyone to publicly share every little detail about their life. Emma Watson stars as Mae, an enthusiastic new recruit who is eager to drink the company kool-aid until she meets Kalden (John Boyega), a mysterious man who keeps showing up around the company campus, encouraging her to question things. The trailer makes it look like a feature-length Black Mirror episode (which sounds about right) and the movie also co-stars Tom Hanks, Karen Gillan, Ellar Coltrane, Bill Paxton and Patton Oswalt. The Circle hits theatres on April 28th; check out the first trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Looks good. Kinda has that facebook movie vibe though blended with conspiracy. Like Tom as the potential antagonist. Need to check out this book.

So will there be a podcast this week?

  • Sean

No regular show but Zemeckis premium and a classic episode from the vault.

    Thanks Sean

Apologies for what may be a stupid question but where do I go to download the classic episode from the vault

  • In my podcast app (Pocketcasts) the reposted classic eps show up as though it’s ‘new’… The Avatar one just showed up. It’s Ep #248 so unless you got the USB drive you’ll have to find it through an app or iTunes I think?

  • Minor nitpick on this movie, I feel like no massive company would use ‘The’ in their name. Just like how Facebook used to be ‘The Facebook’ it just doesn’t sound right. So in that regard, Circle would be a more believable company name and hence movie title. The fact that this slipped through many layers of ‘creative’ hands doesn’t give me high hopes for the final product.
