All is right in the world, the FJ podcast has arrived. Was starting to worry ;).

  • Newtman98

    ol’ Chody McTaint

  • Larry Morgan

Wait, so how much did Jay end up buying the TV for? Which one was it?

  • Jay Cheel

    LG OLED65B6p for 3999.99.

  • Sloth

I did buy a 4k Curved TV because of Film Junk (Specifically Jay) and I feel betrayed.

  • David L

Brad Pitt’s character was assigned to the S.O.E. (Special Operations Executive). The S.O.E. drew on personnel from all of the Dominions, as well as other Allied Nations (U.S., France, etc.). My understanding is that most of the officers were British, since it was a U.K. initiative.

I’m drippin’ for a manifesto ep after this extended intro

  • devolutionary

You just know that Frank will build the narrative by attempting to top you.

Any chance of a roadtrip podcast while on your way to go see Hans Zimmer live in Vegas in April next year. By my calculation it would be around 33hrs. Which I would totally listen to.

  • rigid rotor me baby

you can’t tease a mental breakdown and not deliver a detailed report

    we want the mist story

  • Khan

Glad to hear that Best Buy finally wised up and delivered Mr. Cheel the white-glove service. Although I must say I’m a little disappointed we didn’t get to hear another BB shopping horror story.

  • Sean

I believe it has been told a few times on the show… definitely a part of Film Junk lore at this point.

  • Tommy

I say go for the filling in the blanks types of Premiums. I guess a French New Wave or Italian Neo Realism or Japanese Roman Porno show wouldn’t pull in the big franchise bucks, but I’d love to hear that sort of thing. Obviously y’all need to do a Woody or three.

  • Flo Lieb

As an addition to your curved TV or did you go back to flat from curved for the advantages of OLED?

  • Colin

Damn, sorry to have to let you know, but you got hosed, bro… This (taking into account exchange rate) has been Amazons price for a month:

    http://camelcamelcamel.com/LG-Electronics-OLED65B6P-65-Inch-Ultra/product/B01CDF9UTQ

In fact, you could have saved an additional $300 Canadian during Black Friday if you’d gotten it from them.

  • Young Kirks

Does anyone have the URL to the website with the back catalog? I can’t seem to find it.

  • Sloth
  • Jay Cheel

Am I missing something? After exchange rate, I would be saving $20 (3979.71 Canadian vs my $3999.99.) On top of that, I would have to pay for shipping AND border tax (approx. $561)

    How was I “hosed?”

  • Craig

The first 35 minutes are podcast gold :-)

Sean, The Eye Of The Needle is a good book as well. Ken Follett is one of those writers who is better than an airport novel type, but isn’t as wordy as some literacy types can be.

  • Eric D

If you guys do Dracula or Vampire premium, please include Dracula Dead and Loving it. That’d be amazing…

  • Samb

Enjoyable as always, gents. Still getting a lot of low end on the audio through iTunes, though.

  • Sean

Okay thanks for letting me know. Are you listening in your car? Car systems seem to be the most bass heavy, so it’s tough finding a balance. I will continue to experiment and tweak.

  • Indianamcclain

I think it’s on the clip show.

  • pcch7

the 90s comic book movie premium sounds nice. Would love one on Blade as well. Was fun to hear about Sean getting angry haha.

  • pcch7

ok I thought it was just something with my audio system, mine plays a lot through the subwoofer when I listen to the podcast nowadays. Talking pc here. Not iTunes, I download the episodes

  • pcch7

I have a clip of it

  • yonato

Was it the one with all the kids in the theatre, where Jay just went berserk?

  • yonato

Can vouch for this. I’m listening to it in my car and it’s really bass heavy. I have to turn my levels down

An idea for 600th episode – Prometheus audio commentary + follow up discussion!

Sean so glad you watched eye of the needle it’s a great film. Maybe a spy premium podcast soon? Cold war/wwII era.

  • Joerg

Jay actually had so many epic freak out moments during his testicular, high testoterone Spacejunk days that a special “rant alert” was needed.

Here´s to hoping that his balls will return to their regular, healthy size again.

  • no one important

So I have another question for your movie organizing manifesto.

I have a DVD copy of the directorial debut of Australian Director Stephen Hopkins called Dangerous Game. Dangerous Game is kind of like the movie Chopping Mall but with a psychopathic motorcyle cop replacing the malfunctioning robots. Stephen Hopkins would then go onto make some fantastic American produced films including Ghost and the Darkness, Judgement Night, Predator 2, Blown Away, A nightmare on elm st 5 the dream child and the scifi masterpiece Lost in Space only to wither away and die in the land of episodic tv. The DVD packaging for Dangerous Game is a disaster. Its thinner and taller then your standard DVD case and the spine printing is upside-down. The reverse insert can only be accessed by seperating two plastic locked in pieces, similar to the CD audio plastic cases.

Should I A) just flip it upside down so the text is the same direction as everything else. B) Attempt to Infiltrate the back insert, And if successful carefully slice the spine apart and reverse it so it’s the correct direction C) same as B but if destroying the case get a normal DVD case and trim where necessary to fit the contents within or D) just throw it out knowing that this movie will never ever see the light of day on Blu Ray or 4K and bare witness to the passing of a piece of film history, because the only thing that really matters in the end is how good a movie looks, even if it’s a piece of shit film, if it has a nice transfer then it deserves to be in your collection, but if it’s DVD quality it should be looked upon with disgust.

    Thanks,

  • Looking forward to the possibility of a 90s superhero/comic book movies Premium. Lots of good/bad choices to choose from …

Spawn, Tank Girl, Barbedwire, Mystery Men, Rocketeer, The Mask, Men in Black, The Shadow, The Phantom, Steel, Judge Dredd, Guyver 1 & 2 and The Crow
