Back in 2004, Jim Carrey starred in Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, a movie based on the popular young adult book series that was fairly well-received and yet somehow never spawned a sequel. Now, over a decade later, Netflix is giving the property another shot on the small screen instead. The story revolves around three children who are placed in the care of the diabolical Count Olaf following the death of their parents. Olaf subsequently attempts to steal their family fortune. This time around it is Neil Patrick Harris who plays Olaf (in a very similar comedic vein) with Patrick Warburton narrating. Barry Sonnenfeld is listed as executive producer and directs the first two episodes, which is interesting considering that he was originally attached to direct the movie before Brad Silberling took over. The show is expected to run for 26 episodes (two episodes per book) with the first eight episodes arriving on Jan. 13th. Check out the full trailer after the jump and see what you think.
