We’ve already got two R-rated comedies heading to theatres this holiday season with Bad Santa 2 and Office Christmas Party, but believe it or not, there is also a third one that is going to try muscle in on that turf as well. Following the formula that made the Meet the Parents series so successful, Why Him? stars Bryan Cranston as the father of a young woman (Zoey Deutch) who finds himself developing a bitter rivalry with the love of her life. James Franco plays the obnoxious, foul-mouthed boyfriend, who also happens to be a rich internet entrepreneur, and the new red band trailer offers up some predictably outrageous debauchery including a “soon-to-be-classic” moose teabagging scene. The movie is directed by John Hamburg (I Love You Man) who co-wrote scripts for all of the Meet the Parents movies so I suppose he’s got this subgenre on lock down. (Jonah Hill also has a story credit although he does not appear in the film.) Why Him? hits theatres on Dec. 23rd; check out the red band trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
